A Studio Visit with Minjae Kim presented by Homes+studios
Join us for a 90-minute studio visit with artist Minjae Kim, where we’ll explore his materials, process, and practice.
Born in 1989 in Seoul, Minjae Kim lives and works in Brooklyn. With a background in architecture and furniture design from Columbia University’s GSAPP, his work in furniture and objects serves as an antithesis to the restriction in architectural practice in time, scale, and accessibility. Playfulness and humor are central to his practice.
During our visit, Minjae’s studio will be filled with works for his upcoming exhibition at Marta in Los Angeles, opening this spring.
Minjae’s inaugural solo exhibition, I Was Evening All Afternoon, was held at Marta in Los Angeles in 2021. Since then, he has exhibited at Etage Projects (Copenhagen), Nina Johnson (Miami), Blunk Space (Point Reyes), and Salon 94 (New York), among others. His work has been featured in Apartamento, Architectural Digest, Cultured, Financial Times, MilK, The New York Times, Office, Pin-Up, Surface, and Wallpaper.
