Latent Labours

​As Daryl Cheong notes in his essay “Regarding Latent Cinema,” published in MARG1N Issue 2: Traces, embracing films-as-processes can be more intriguing and fulfilling than focusing on films-as-products. What happens to the first cuts of abandoned shoots besides languishing in a soon-corrupted hard drive? How else can we interact with those clips in our archives besides replaying them on restless days? Why can’t we regain the courage to share work we might deem incomplete or unworthy, if those sketches continue to reflect who we were or still are?

Even unfinished films or videos deserve an audience… that is, if you dare. Join us on May 1, 2025 (Labour Day) in an intimate, judgement-free sharing session. Ten filmmakers will briefly introduce and screen their unfinished works in a Round Robin format.

Signing up is as easy as filling up a form, as a filmmaker or an audience member. If you’re in Singapore and free that afternoon, we’d love to see you there.

​Submissions close on April 28. For the duration, we don't recommend your films to exceed 10-15 minutes.
