About Event

Learning from Our Elders: A Showcase of Culture, Community + Craft is a showcase looking at how this current generation of BIPOC fiber artists are honing the skills that they learned from their elders within their own fiber arts practice. The exhibit is looking to explore questions like what does it mean to share a craft skill through generations? Are we crafting like our elders or have we turned the craft into something that is our own? Why do we feel connected to our cultures and communities when deep in craft?

The event features stunning artwork from local fiber artists, celebrating the rich traditions of craft and culture. Experience the creativity firsthand by bringing your current fiber arts project and joining fellow artists and community members in a craft circle. We will also have tea provided by Miles from @theteastandnyc. Sounds by Jakari Wing.

The showcase includes members from the BIPOC Craft Circle, a community that meets to craft at chai spots around NYC.

Limited capacity and no refunds. Tickets include entry to the exhibit, a zine, and tea. Any profits will be donated to the Garment Worker Direct Relief Fund.
