To say 'Unplugged' is an open mic is to say a tomato is a fruit. Technically true but something else entirely.
It's a community. It's joyful. It's a place for you to be yourself. A space to connect with wildly amazing humans and artists.
And by the end of the evening you'll leave with a touch of magic, love, vulnerability, and a real sense of belonging with people who are cool in their craft and heartwarming at the same time.
This is our 16th edition in New York and our 156th edition worldwide (Bali, Amsterdam, New Zealand, Dominican Republic).
✨ We welcome all who have that one piece of poetry, a song, a story, a dance, or other artistic expression that really needs to be unleashed into the world.
And if you just want to kick back and let all the creativity wash over you, that's fine too.
Bring your friends and experience, express, and connect on a night of art with heart.
How it works:
Doors at 7pm. We will start promptly at 7:30 and you won't be able to get in once we start!
BYOB — Feel free to bring to share! Snacks will be provided.
Each event we will have a featured artist to perform at the end
Donations: Our goal is to make these events as accessible as possible, which is why we always keep the donation-based model. It takes a lot of time and money to put on these gatherings, so anything you can give above the minimum helps us sustain the magic. Let's keep building beautiful spaces together! :)
Final Performer: Sam Yu
Sam Yu is a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, currently living in Brooklyn! She just released her first ever album "learning the hard way :/" recorded live in Prospect Park and filled with the sweetest and saltiest lessons she's learned in love. She's in a band with her friends called "Greene Girls" and they love to put on cozy concerts in their apartments. When she's not making music, Sam is working her dream job at Rockstar Games, rock climbing, or sleeping in too late. She is SO grateful to be a part of the Voices Unleashed community!
