​(Staying) Out in Climate

​Come meet up with the Out in Climate community during San Francisco Climate Week!

​This panel will bring together diverse perspectives from LGBTQIA+ experts working in climate. You will hear from folks working across the climate sector from direct air capture, climate finance, and renewable energy procurement as we discuss the nuances of their jobs both working for organizations with climate at their core and individuals championing climate action within non-climate organizations.

​Following the panel we will have a Q&A, light breakfast and networking opportunities.

​The panelists:

​Serena Poon - SVP of Silicon Valley Bank and Cofounder of Prism, a global network designed specifically for next-generation queer founders

​Joey Nelson - Senior Manager of Innovation at Heirloom, the first and only Direct Air Capture facility in North America that permanently captures CO2

​Don Howerton - Senior Director of Commercial Procurement for PG&E

​Alyah Kanso (moderator) - Out in Climate Bay Area organizer and former sustainability manager at the Golden State Warriors - Chase Center.

​​​Out in Climate: Out in Climate is a non-profit dedicated to building community among LGBTQ+ professionals in the climate space. Our mission is to foster networking and mentoring, and to uplift queer voices working on climate solutions. Since our founding in 2022, we've hosted 20+ events connecting professionals across a broad swath of organizations, including climate tech startups and investors, government, and NGOs.
