AI capabilities and risks demo-jam: Creating visceral interactive demonstrations

What to expect:

  • Lead up the event:

    • Join Apart Research's brainstorming sessions and pre-hackathon workshops

    • Develop proposals for projects to take into the hackathon

  • ​Friday evening:

    • ​Keynote presentation streamed live at LISA (5pm)

    • ​Network with potential collaborators, employers, and investors in the AI alignment sector

    • ​Form a team and brain-storm ideas for the weekend!

  • ​Saturday-Sunday:

    • Work as a team to develop interactive demonstrations of AI capabilities/risks to help inform policymakers, researchers and the public

    • ​Submit your project on Sunday to the judging panel

About the organisers:

Safe AI London is a community group run by Arcadia Impact which helps build the AI safety & governance ecosystem here in London.

Apart Research is a research mentorship programme (Apart Lab) and hackathon organiser (Apart Sprints). They help ambitious, talented individuals start their career in AI safety.

FAQ:

Q: Will there be food provided?
A: Snacks and dinner will be provided by Safe AI London on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

​​Q: Do I need to attend the whole event?
A: You don't need to attend the whole weekend, but it'd be great if you could. There will be a keynote speaker on Friday night that we'll all watch together, and a show & tell section on Sunday night to share our work.

Q: Do I need to find my own team, or can I participate on my own?
A: You're welcome to participate on your own, to form your own team. Depending on the on-day dynamics, Safe AI London facilitators may provide assistance with building teams.

​​Q: What time will the venue be open?
A: On Saturday and Sunday we'll be going from 10am to 10pm. On Friday, we'll be going from 5pm to 10pm.
