Esther Pan Sloane, Managing Director
Ms. Pan Sloane is responsible for ESC’s fundraising, ESG due diligence, and impact reporting. Previously, she was a Managing Director on the Avenue Sustainable Solutions Fund from 2022-2025. Prior to joining Avenue, she was a senior executive at the United Nations (UN) and a leader in impact investing and innovative finance aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As Head of Partnerships, Policy and Communications at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) from 2016-2021, she provided strategic guidance and leadership to the agency and mentored junior staff worldwide. She led a global team that boosted UNCDF’s annual grant income and built key relationships with the finance and impact investment industries. From 2006-2016, Ms. Pan Sloane served as a U.S. diplomat in China, the United Kingdom, the State Department Operations Center, and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, where she provided oversight of U.S. aid funding directed through the multilateral development system and served on the U.S. team that negotiated the UN SDGs. As a diplomat, Ms. Pan Sloane received individual and group Superior Honor Awards for her work on the SDGs; a group Superior Honor Award with other members of the Operations Center for their response to the attacks of September 11, 2012; and an individual Meritorious Honor Award for sustained excellence in UN negotiations. From 1998-2006, Ms. Pan Sloane worked as a journalist in newspapers, radio and magazines. Ms. Pan Sloane received a BA from Stanford University with honors in both English and International Relations (1997) and an MA in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town in South Africa (2002), where she studied on a Fulbright Fellowship.
