SPIKE | Shaping Sri Lanka's Startup Future
Shaping Sri Lanka's Startup Future: Policy, Digital Economy & Industrial Transformation
On May 27th, we’re putting together a chill fireside chat at Trace Expert City. We’re diving into how policy, the digital economy, and industrial transformation are shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s startup scene.
We’ve got two sharp voices from the startup ecosystem and a senior government official joining us. No fluff. Just honest takes on where policy is working, where it’s failing, and what needs to change.
🎙️ Moderator of the event
We’re stoked to have Bhanuka Harischandra joining us as moderator for SPIKE | Shaping Sri Lanka's Startup Future on May 27th at Trace Expert City.
If you don’t already know Bhanuka — he’s the founder of Surge Global, a digital strategist, Forbes 30 Under 30 alum, and one of the most unapologetically honest voices in Sri Lanka’s startup scene. He built Surge from the ground up, secured major investment, and has been pushing boundaries in digital strategy and entrepreneurship ever since.
This won’t be another polite panel. Raw insights, sharp questions, and maybe a few uncomfortable truths.. all in the spirit of moving things forward.
🎙️ Speaker of the event
We’re excited to have Chathuranga Abeysinghe — Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development — joining us for SPIKE | Shaping Sri Lanka's Startup Future
Chathuranga isn’t only a policymaker. He’s someone who deeply understands the entrepreneurial grind. Before entering politics, he spent more than a decade inside one of Sri Lanka’s biggest corporate powerhouses MAS Holdings and built a solid reputation helping drive talent analytics and innovation. And now, as Deputy Minister, he’s bringing that real-world experience into shaping the country’s industrial and entrepreneurship landscape.
He’s especially passionate about unlocking opportunities for founders and building systems that actually support people taking risks and building businesses from the ground up.
