Ai Salon: Autonomous Scientific Discovery [Vancouver]
About Event
Will we ever be able to build an AI scientist?
The Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry were recently awarded to pioneers in artificial intelligence, which left some commentators surprised.
Artificial intelligence is now making groundbreaking contributions to scientific discovery, such as unlocking the structure of virtually every biologically-relevant protein.
What does this mean for basic science? Is AI capable of making novel scientific discoveries? If so, who takes the credit for these discoveries? Will an AI ever make contributions worthy of a Nobel Prize?
