Writing Toward Clarity: Personal Voice in Climate Work
Many people working in climate are sitting on book-worthy ideas but don't have the time or clarity they need to move forward with them. The pressure to sound polished, strategic, or professional can dilute what makes a message powerful in the first place: a clear, personal point of view.
This two-part event is for anyone drawn to the idea of writing a book (or something like it — a newsletter, podcast, or talk) as a way to claim their voice, share what they’ve learned, and contribute to the climate conversation with depth and clarity.
Part One: 2:00–3:00pm
A group discussion about the challenges of personal expression within high-stakes, values-aligned work. A few invited guests will kick us off with reflections on how they’re navigating this in their own projects; we'll invite you to share, too!
Part Two: 3:00–4:00pm
A hands-on introduction to the Author’s Compass Experiment, a workbook and weekly write-along program designed to support people exploring book-length ideas. You’ll get a feel for the tools, identify a small piece of writing to work on, and join a quiet co-writing session with others doing the same.
Who it’s for:
People in the climate ecosystem — policy leads, entrepreneurs, researchers, nonprofit staff, consultants — who suspect they have a book (or something like it) in them, and want to start figuring out what it might be.
