Bright Moments | NYC NFT Meet Up

A new event, ‘Project Spotlight’ by Bright Moments, is a way for CryptoCitizens holders to showcase their artwork or projects that they are passionate about.

Bright Moments is pleased to present Waterfalls by Nicolas Sassoon, the first exhibition of the London Collection. Grounded in the aesthetics of early computer graphics, the show invites the viewer to enter an immersive space of contemplation.  In Waterfalls, a single 85“ screen becomes a window into the world of digital  abstraction. 

100 NFTs, minted IRL at 13 Soho Square, evoke memories of landscape and liquid motion through individually crafted animations.

Bright Moments is pleased to present a new project by the Japanese artist Sputniko. Known for her multimedia and video works, The Nursery is the artist’s first edition of 100 NFTs that are minted in a specifically designed installation. Combining an immersive installation with the possibilities of smart contracts, the project is thematizing the process of organic growth and birth on multiple levels. Visitors enter a womb-like space to see the blossoming of evolving forms cast in a pastel color palette. Collectors receive one of these forms as an NFT that will develop and grow on-chain over the course of several months.

Bright Moments London Collection Opening Night: The Nursery by Sputniko

Bright Moments is pleased to present FOLIO by Matt DesLauriers. 

FOLIO is a generative drawing system, inspired by concrete poetry and early computer artwork, that emits an output process for a given input. Each output may be realized digitally, in print, or through another medium. The drawing system, coded in JavaScript, recursively packs bins of data to fill the page, constrained entirely by the use of typographic glyphs and a limited mono-, duo-, or tri-colour palette. By default, when no input is specified, the program will select a random integer. Each time this code executes, it produces a new and unique piece of art that — if not captured and recorded — will be forever lost, and effectively impossible to recover.

The code for FOLIO is stored on the Ethereum blockchain, which is also used to distribute and archive 100 limited editions of the artwork. These editions will be minted over three days of the Bright Moments London exhibition in Soho Square. Minting refers to the act of recording and preserving a program input as a transferable and signed digital edition on the blockchain. In each mint operation, a new input hash is generated and assigned to an ERC-721 token, which is then transferred to its new owner. Once the transfer is complete, the hash can be fed into FOLIO, revealing a new piece of art, and preserving it as a digital object on the blockchain.

'Wirwar' is a 100 edition generative art collection by Bart Simons using Art Blocks Engine

Wirwar will premiere IRL at Bright Moments Venice on September 7th from 6-8p. Wirwar is Dutch word comparable to "tangle" or "jumble. Drawings of isometric mazes and the works of Richard Serra served as the project's original inspiration. Jumbles of colourful walls are assembled by the Wirwar code to be viewed on screens or in print.

We co-curated an exhibition that demonstrates the variety and richness of digital art in Berlin. The show highlights the itinerary of local artists into the NFT space and explores new ways of interweaving physical and digital spaces.

Jorge began coding Brise Soleil on the first equinox of the year in March. This series will be launched on September 22nd, the second equinox of the year. Why on the equinoxes? Brise soleil is an architectural element used to minimize direct sun light into the building but allowing sky's indirect light.

We are excited to announce ‘Nondescriptives’, an edition of 100 generative AI artworks by Ivona Tau that explores zones of indeterminacy in text-to-image generators with GANs.

Mint passes will be available for 0.25ETH starting Tues, Oct 18th on the 

CryptoCitizens will have an exclusive 30 minute pre-sale access. 'Nondescriptives' can be minted IRL or remote. The exhibition will be on display for 2 weeks in Berlin!

Join us for a showcase and live minting of ‘Orchids’ by Luke Shannon. As the Artist in Residence this month, Orchids will be available to mint IRL only during the month of October at any Bright Moments location.

You’ll have the opportunity to meet the artist and mint IRL at the event. The cost of each mint is 0.1 ETH.

When the month is over, minting will conclude at Bright Moments galleries. However, Luke will retain the right to mint 100 additional IRL  "artist mints" at his discretion. Once this is done, the final collection size will be fixed.

Bright Moments is offering 3-days of generative art education to local Mexico City based artists. The classes will provide introductory knowledge of p5js, shaders, and randomness.

We are excited to host a project spotlight for ‘Relative Value’ by @eerieum_, a 16 year old high school student from Venice. We will show his new collection of digitized hand painted dollar bills at the Venice Beach gallery.

In early 2021, eerieum_ started drawing more seriously, & leaning into web3 and crypto, which led him to link the two and turn his art into NFTs. His first collection, V/alue, sold out in January, 2021. We are excited to spotlight him in his hometown!

Velum is a 100 edition generative series inspired by asking, "what do you get if you blend the visual DNA of two mid 20th Century artistic movements into a 21st Century generative art algorithm?" Premiering IRL at Bright Moments New York.

Harvey Rayner was influenced by abstract expressionism and pop art, incorporating elements from Rothko, Jackson Pollock, & Lichtenstein into the algorithm.

Collectors present during the opening can participate in the co-creation of their unique artwork through a special in-gallery minting ceremony.

​Bright Moments is excited to announce ‘Metropolis‘ by mpkoz, the first collection in our collaborative series with Art Blocks.

​Metropolis is a long-form generative art project exploring the node-based systems that enable modern society. Each Metropolis mint will reflect a Bright Moments city – LA, New York, London, Berlin and Mexico City – via an on-chain trait. These traits reference abstract architectural forms and color palettes that are inspired by the respective city.

​The project will combine Art Block’s best-in-class online minting experience with Bright Moments’ expertise in IRL exhibitions. During a world tour across all Bright Moments galleries, holders can use their unique mint to generate a diptych: a second piece that extends programmatically from the first, minted IRL for free in the associated city.

​We will mint in LA on March 11th, 5–8pm.
