We're excited to welcome two SPC alumni back for the next installment in our series with all the research companies trying to build AGI. 

, an independent research company developing general-purpose AI agents with human-like intelligence that can be safely deployed in the real world. They are also two of the very earliest members of SPC.

This will be a fascinating conversation about the technical details of creating a world for developing AI agents, the unique challenges of founding and building a company with a research-first agenda, and much more. If you're interested in the potential of AI, you won't want to miss it.

After the panel wraps up we will host a happy hour for SPC members, alumni, and guests to mingle and show their own agency in our happy corner of the simulation.

. He is an active angel investor and has invested in hundreds of technology startups, including Clover Health, Color Genomics, Headway, Hyperscience, Plaid, and Oscar.

 for a fireside chat on the future of techbio and how it differs from biotech. Becky is a partner on the bio investing team at a16z. She focuses on early stage companies building technology platforms for therapeutic discovery and development.

Prior to joining Andreessen Horowitz, Becky worked at Amgen where she most recently led business development efforts for therapeutic platform partnerships. Before moving to BD Becky was a research scientist in Amgen R&D, focused on cell and gene therapy technology innovation.

Becky completed her postdoctoral education at Genentech studying cancer cell biology and proteomics. She holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from UC Berkeley and a BS in Biology from MIT.

Adam Wolf is Founder and CEO of Eion Corp. Adam founded and led Arable Labs Inc from 2014-2020, an IOT company empowering people to measure and manage their land. Arable’s award-winning product is used in thousands of agricultural fields in over 40 countries. Prior to Arable, Adam collaborated with luminaries at Princeton and Stanford, publishing works in Science, Nature, and other journals that have been featured on NBC News, The Economist, and the New York Times.  Adam holds a PhD in Biology from Stanford, and an MSc and BSc in Agronomy from UC Davis.  During his scientific career, Adam lived and researched in Russia, Africa, Europe, and East Asia, and brings a global perspective to solving real world problems.

Join longevity luminaries Laura Deming and Jacob Kimmel for a wide-ranging discussion on aging—and the cutting edge science and companies trying to stop it. This speaker panel will be moderated by members of the SPC TechBio forum and followed by a happy hour for members and guests to meet and talk all things longevity.

Laura Deming is a venture capitalist and anti-aging pioneer. Her work focuses on life extension and using biological research to reduce or reverse the effects of aging. Deming is a partner at and founder of The Longevity Fund, a venture capital firm focused on aging and life extension.

At NewLimit, Jacob uses genomics and machine learning methods to identify and manipulate the genetic programs that define cell identity. Prior to NewLimit, Jacob led a research laboratory focused on epigenetic reprogramming as a Principal Investigator and Computational Fellow at Calico. Jacob received a PhD in stem cell biology from UCSF.

You’ll have the opportunity to form teams with members & friends of the SPC community, and build the next AI unicorn on Replit. During the week-long event, we’ll have members of the SPC and Replit teams in-office to network and provide engineering support. We’ll close out the event with prize announcements and a special

 on Friday, April 28th at 6pm PT in the SPC-SF office.

All projects will be due at 12pm PT/3pm ET on Friday, April 28th. The hackathon will kick off on April 24th at 12pm PT/3pm ET with a tutorial workshop with Replit team members hosted at the SPC-SF and NYC offices and remotely over Zoom.

SPC-Replit AI Hackathon

, we're excited to host Replit founder Amjad Masad for a fireside chat at SPC-SF. We'll do a deep dive on what Amjad learned from founding Replit and why he's so excited by recent advances in AI. We will also share the winning projects from the hackathon.

Doors open at 4:30pm for a happy hour and casual science fair style demos (participants from the hackathon will set up at stations and show their demo to anyone who walks by). The talk will start at 6pm sharp, so please arrive before start time.
