If you’re an artist looking for an event to make friends, find collaborators, discover a community to be a part of, or just somewhere to share your work, you're invited to join our crew.

While this is a community centered around goofy and interesting prompts, you are not required to draw what the group is working on — please feel free to bring your own projects that you are working on, and share a space with supportive new friends. 

If you are a painter, someone who works in charcoal, a clay enthusiast, you are welcome and encouraged to bring whatever you need to work in the medium that you are most comfortable in. 

All skill levels are welcome, experts to hobbyist, feel free to come start your art journey here or to keep your skills sharp and have some fun! If you’re more of a drawer than a drinker, you are still very welcome and encouraged to join us!

Some basic materials will be supplied (pencils, markers and paper) but you are encouraged to bring anything else you may need. This is a BYOB event so you are also free to bring your own alcohol and enjoy a night of laughs, art and friendship.

Drink (Or Not) and Draw w/ Indy Hall

Writing about traumatic or challenging experiences can be healing for the writer and the reader. 

In this talk, author Autumn Konopka discusses her approach to difficult topics and how to balance candor and sensitivity so that readers feel seen, validated, and safe all at once. 

She will also offer exercises, strategies, and techniques for anyone interested in writing hard things and taking a trauma-informed approach to creative writing.

As we celebrate 17 years of Indy Hall, we look to our past for blueprints of our possible future. We also look to communities that we can learn from, like the Library Company of Philadelphia, who have embraced independence and mutual growth since the beginning of the United Stated of America. 

Mike explains, "the 250th anniversary of American independence is coming! Organizations like Indy Hall have been a part of how this country gained independence and how we keep it. In particular, the Library Company of Philadelphia - the Indy Hall of 1776 - played a big role in teaching Philadelphians about what independence meant. 

For 2026 we are going back to those roots and connecting history to the needs of our democracy today."

 of Jessica Kingsley Books on Saturday, August 26th, at 10AM, for a brain pick session early in the morning as a fun industry kick off to the Philly Bookstore Crawl. And hey, Indy Hall is just a nice brisk walk away from Harriett’s and H&H Books!

A short, 90 minute event, we'll kick things off with a quick get-to-know-you with the guests, and then an open AMA for an hour or so. Breakfast pastries and coffee will be provided.

Throughout our history, Town Halls have been a chance to gather as a community so we can reflect on where we've been and where we're going, together. 

So whether you're a brand new member, a longtime lurker, a regular participant online or in person or anything in between, we hope you'll join us at one of the 2 upcoming sessions to gather and discuss Indy Hall past, present, and future endeavors.

To maximize most peoples' ability to join in, we'll be hosting 2 sessions, one online and one IRL. 

All members are invited to both/either, regardless of your membership level, access, or preference for participation!

 Both will begin promptly at 4pm Eastern time and run for 1 hour.
