Intentional Homeschooling: Hidden Heroes - Celebrating Homeschool Dads

Want to learn how to create your own lesson plans or unit study?

Come ready to leave with a full lesson plan done. Bring topics that interest your child - for instance; cars, dancing, gaming - and we'll work together to create a lesson plan or even better, a unit study from those topics. 

Homeschooling is not as hard as it's cut out to be. We'll show you how! 

Intentional Homeschooling: Curriculum - Planning Your Own Lessons & Unit Studies

As homeschool parents, we have found that trying to figure things out for ourselves could easily become overwhelming and lonely. We crave useful community. 

We sent out a survey and discovered we were not alone. Using your responses on values and time availability, we have created intimate groups of 4-5 other homeschool parents for collaboration, sharing of resources and accountability. 

This first meeting is so we can get to meet our homeschool parent support group partners, find out how it works and begin scheduling our first virtual meetings.

Intentional Homeschooling: Earning Income at Home

 is a homeschool mother of 5 children ages 10-2, wife to Jeff, and Certified Life Coach for Homeschool Families. Laura helps homeschool families "ginger up" their learning experiences by learning from the HEART. She empowers parents to empower their children with the HEART Learning Model, which helps them 

 that drives their own education. Laura's oldest child who is highly emotional and sensitive has experienced his own transformation through the tools she now uses in her coaching. Laura is passionate about learning and empowering others to love learning too! And she brings all that passion and expertise to us for free in a 1-hour interactive workshop.

It's been a while, that I know. School and work has kept us on our toes. You could very well say...we're over-socialized 😂
In all seriousness, socialization, as we all know, is a big topic of concern amongst homeschoolers (and non-homeschoolers as well). This is the look we all get when we say we're homeschooled...


It's also the reason some family members will resist your decision to homeschool your kids. 
We can't tell them enough how socialized our kids are because they get to talk to 
the grocery store cashier
the elderly neighbor
the mail deliverer
the zoo keeper
and more...
...all in a single day. 
Our children are getting well-rounded socialization. That's a given. 

But for those times when mama needs to socialize as well, or children are bored out of their minds and would rather do their work with other homeschooled kids, or you just simply need a break from it all and want to drop them off at the home of another "Homie", we've built just the place for that. 
We run a 79K (and growing) Facebook group for Homeschooling Parents. You would think it'll be easy to find and connect with others near you in such a large group. And you would be wrong - because that's not the case. 
So we're making it easy for you to now freely connect with other homeschool parents local to your area - for field trips, sharing resources, play dates and even care exchange.

Socialization? Say no more!

🤗Hey Homie,
Last week, I watched my sons turn their yard work time into a time to play with fire. I could tell they were intrigued. I sought to know what their fascination with fire was. They had so many questions.
So, of course, I turned that into a lesson.

As we go into another beautiful fall week - whether just starting out or been in this for a while, following a strict curriculum or simply going with the wind - be encouraged by the fact that our children are naturally curious.
Follow their natural curiosity. Ask them interesting questions. Help them embrace learning by building on what they already love.
Don't be surprised at how many more smiles (or even hugs) you get out of simply building learning into what they already love.

Follow your child's heart to find wonderful opportunities to instill the love for learning.
One for the 🤔
Think of the different topics that hold your child's attention; for instance, technology, cars, frogs. Now, think of ways you could build a lesson or even a whole unit study around that.

Homeschool Lessons for Everything - Homie Hug #4

🤗Hey Homie,
As we get into the swing of homeschooling, here's a reminder so you're not too hard on yourself:

We all chose home education for varied reasons. Maybe one of your primary reasons, like mine, is to adequately prepare your children for a fulfilling future where their possibilities are limitless.
If so, I would encourage you to get rid of the pail and instead focus on the many different ways you could  light a fire in them that burns ever brighter into the future .
Isn't it comforting to know there is no bucket you need to fill by a set time?
For me it is. 🙌
Let's go forth into this next week thinking of ways in which we can light that fire for our dear children.

One for the 💗
Let go of the need to fill your child's "bucket" and embrace the grace to simply light their fire.
One for the ✍🏼
Use  this activity  to find out what excites your child most when it comes to learning. Immediate results help you stir their love for learning.
One for the 🤔
Last week we encouraged you to think about ways you could make 'school' less stressful. Did you come up with any? Here's one winning recommendation we received: find a different name for 'schoolwork.' Children, especially those coming from a traditional school setting, have learned to associate 'school' with something boring, tedious, and obligatory. Is there a different word you could use that will get them excited about learning?

We all chose home education for varied reasons. Maybe one of your primary reasons, like mine, is to adequately prepare your children for a fulfilling future where their possibilities are limitless.
