, which is available as a Rust library, a WebAssembly module, and JavaScript to index and search your content.

Stork is two things that work in tandem to put a beautiful, fast (10ms from keydown to repaint in the demo above), and accurate search interface on your static site. First, it’s a program that indexes your content and writes that index to disk. Second, it’s a Javascript library that downloads that index, hooks into a search input, and displays optimal search results immediately to your user, as they type.

Stork is built with Rust, and the Javascript library uses WebAssembly behind the scenes. It’s built with content creators in mind, in that it requires little-to-no code to get started and can be extended deeply. It’s perfect for JAMstack sites and personal blogs, but can be used wherever you need a search interface.

Tienson Qin @tiensonqin is the creator of LogSeq, “A local-first, non-linear, outliner notebook for organizing and sharing your personal knowledge base.”

It is written in ClojureScript and is open source under the AGPL. The application is entirely front end in the browser, with some minor back end handling around Github and Google logins. You can sync your data to your own Github repo, or use the new Chrome Native File System API to read and write files directly from your desktop.

Tienson will tell us about the project and tech used, as well as show a demo of the app in action.

I consider my digital trace an important part of my identity. Usually the data is siloed, accessing it is inconvenient and borderline frustrating. This feels very wrong.

In contrast, once the data is available as Python objects, I can easily plug it into existing tools, libraries and frameworks. It makes building new tools considerably easier and opens up new ways of interacting with the data.

 is a “visual tool for thought” that describes itself as an infinite notebook. It stores text, images, videos, and all sorts of documents, privately and securely. They developed their own database on top of IPFS and are end-to-end encrypted.

They recently released a new version, which is available for MacOS and iPad on the app store.

There are many tools for thought, second brains, and digital garden apps out there, with more being built every day. How do we work on interchange between these systems?

Many people want Markdown as the One True Format, which they have become used to working with. But there isn’t even one standard for Markdown, never mind the front matter for metadata storage, various plugins, extensions, queries and other components that each system has.

We also don’t want any single large systems to be the de-facto standard that is fully owned by one private company, whether that is at the API layer or the export layer.

Can we work on ways to interchange data between systems in a way that preserves the unique capabilities of each system, while also allowing users and developers to more easily use different tools to work with their own data?

This enables lots of useful behavior, such as forking discussions, personal note-taking, content categorization & bookmarking, feed curation, nested jurisdictions, evolving democratic ruling, and decentralized connected communities.

Danny O'Brien is a Senior Fellow at the Filecoin Foundation, which he 

, and what Danny and the team are working on going forwards.

The Filecoin Foundation's goal is stewarding the governance of the Filecoin ecosystem, funding critical projects around it and advocating for the future of Filecoin and its stack of decentralizing tools: IPFS, libp2p, etc.

The foundation team will also be building out the Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web (FFDW), the charitable wing, whose activities include preserving and distributing the world’s knowledge, supporting the dweb community, funding related R&D, and educating the public about the benefits of a redecentralized net.

Vulcanize DB is a set of tools that was originally designed to make it easier for developers to write application-specific indexes and caches for dapps built on Ethereum.

It uses IPFS and specialized IPLD structures to store and query Ethereum state, trustlessly. By using IPFS, it can also share the data collected between different nodes, instead of everyone having to start from scratch.

It has some interesting features, like implementing a blockstore in Postgres, making IPFS/IPLD data more easily queryable.

Ian Norden, lead dev on VulcanizeDB, and Rick Dudley, founder of Vulcanize, will present an overview of its components and how it works, and how it might be expanded to store Filecoin state.
