In his work he seeks to grasp the big picture of planetary evolution and how humans can affect it — for better or for worse.

 is a Ph D. candidate in Chemical Engineering at the Clean Energy Conversions Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. Katherine earned her undergraduate degrees in chemical engineering and professional writing from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Her current work focuses on carbon mineralization using mine waste feedstocks. Additionally, she is interested in direct air capture, corporate climate action plans, and communicating climate science to the public.

We at AirMiners continuously strive to find novel, potentially impactful methods of carbon removal; our next 

panel event on Biomass Harvest and Storage (BHS)

 Since biomass is essentially photosynthetically captured carbon, when plant biomass dies and decomposes, it releases its carbon back to the atmosphere as CO2 and other GHGs via the Carbon Cycle.

 BHS is a CDR method in which dead or live biomass is harvested via collection or selective cutting, and then either buried underground or stored aboveground to slow or prevent biomass from decomposing. BHS thus provides a way to break the Carbon Cycle and remove atmospheric CO2.

Art, Design & Culture Series: Carbon Removal and Textiles

Trying to make headway on utilization or storage pathways for a startup? We are going to lay out the case for both in an AirMiners Roundtable event on Wednesday December 8th. Grant Faber currently of the University of Michigan Global CO2 Initiative, will lay out the case for each and we will have an open conversation about utilization and non-utilization pathways to market, and what problems and solutions we’ll encounter in doing so.

Happy 2022! With a new year comes resolutions to start anew and create pathways for our careers. To that end, AirMiners is hosting an event to help those seeking employment in carbon removal. We are inviting you to our Buyer Demo Day to introduce these teams to you so that you may consider them as suppliers for carbon removal credits.

​Format: Each team will present for about 5 minutes or so, with time for Q&A. Buyers will be asked at the end of each teams’ pitch if they would like to opt in for an introduction. That will be collected data and will be private (i.e. other attendees won’t be able to see it). If you as a buyer opted in, you will be introduced to the startups after the event. This way the signal is clearest on which startups are of interest to you.
