"A growing number of scientists and entrepreneurs are using blockchain tools, including smart contracts and tokens, in an attempt to advance modern science." Together, their work has become known as the decentralized science movement, or DeSci.”  

Science moves humanity forward. Today's science and the scientific industry, however, suffer from various problems: access to funding is too often slow, inefficient and corrupt, access to scientific knowledge is limited, scientists are often underpaid, and contributions by scientists and researchers are not adequately recognized and financially compensated. Interesting and controversial areas of scientific research frequently have a harder time securing funding for research, there’s too much censorship, and scientists often contribute without any financial compensation.

How - and whether - blockchain and web3 technologies can improve modern science and the process of scientific production?

DeSci seeks to use web3 and blockchain technologies, data storage protocols, smart contracts, tokenization, and more to solve some of science's biggest problems. Innovators  in the field of decentralized science are currently addressing funding, publishing, incentive mechanisms, reproducibility, access issues, and many other topics.

 is a two-day international crypto conference. DeSci leaders from all over the world will gather, share, discuss and ideate. Some of the most interesting projects in the space will be present and will share their work, ideas and experiences. Practical workshops and debates will be organized on a wide range of topics as well, from on-chain organizations and internal-first DAO collectives, to innovations in the field of law. Blockchain tehnologija i digitalna imovina su doživele veliki razvoj poslednjih godina. U četvrtak, 23. Februara u 18h u House of Web3, tim Udruženja studenata FONa predstaviće USF Gaming Fair projekat.

To je događaj na kom se studenti druže, razmenjuju svoja gejming iskustva, razvijaju takmičarski duh i na kome imaju priliku da se bolje upoznaju sa celom gejming i IT industrijom. Prva dva dana USF Gaming Fair-a su namenjena Humanitarnom gejming turniru, dok je treci dan rezervisan za sajam gejming i IT industrije.

HUMANITARNI GEJMNG TURNIR je prošle godine održan na čak 4 lokacije u Beogradu - U igraonicama Regnum, Ronin, Cybershark i Metrod. Takmičari su imali priliku da se nadmeću u 6 igrica: CS:GO, LOL, LOL TFT, FIFA, NBA i Rocket League. Kapaciteti svih igrica su bili popunjeni i na turniru je učestvovalo rekordnih 

. Turnir je obuhvatio mnoge profesionalne igrače, ali i amatere koji su se prijavili radi zabave i humanosti. Na turniru je prvi put organizovan live prenos i komentarisanje turnira u CS:GO igrici, što mu je dalo potpuno novu dimenziju. Nagrade za pobednike su obezbedili Cooler Master, Redragon, Marvo i mnoge druge kompanije.

SAJAM GEJMING I IT INDUSTRIJE je edukativni deo projekta koji obuhvata predavanja i sajam kompanija koji nudi mogućnost povezivanja svih onih koji žele zaposlenje u ovim sektorima sa potencijalnim poslodavcima. Ideja je da se kompanije uz svoj štand, promotivne materijale i aktivacije prikažu delegatima, daju informacije o otvorenim pozicijama i prilikama u kompaniji.

Prošlogodišnji Sajam je organizovan u prostoru Dorćol Platz-a. Neke od kompanija koje su učestvovale na sajmu su Yettel, Digital Arrow, Playstudios i Portal Gaming World.

Sajam su svojim predavanjima uveličali eminentni stručnjaci iz oblasti gejminga, te su učesnici na njemu imali prilike da čuju kako izgleda jedan radni dan u gejming industriji, nauče o marketingu u gejmingu, ali i da steknu nova znanja o aktuelnim oblastima tehnologija kao što su

Trustless bridging: the interoperability trilema and the impotance of light client protocols. A deep dive into domain's runtime incompatibilities, the challenges using light clients as a bridging solution with different consensus mechanisms and the solutions present in the current market.

Web3 has evolved into an ecosystem of L1 blockchains and L2 scaling solutions, each designed with unique capabilities and trade-offs. As the number of blockchains protocols increases, so does the demand to move assets across chains. To fulfill this demand, we need bridges. Trustless bridges operate using smart contracts and algorithms. They are trustless, i.e., the security of the bridge is the same as that of the underlying blockchain. Through smart contracts, trustless bridges enable users to remain in control of their funds.

Layer 2 (L2) Solutions, Why and How - Introduction to the Blockchain Scalability problem (causes, the Blockchain triangle dilemma) and the Layer 2 solutions which aim at solving it. In this presentation we'll go over important Scalling solutions such as State Channels, Sidechains, Plasma and Rollups (Optimistic and ZK Rollup). 

*Layer 2 is a protocol or technology that goes on top of Layer 1. It works independently of Layer 1 but is still part of the entire network. That means if there were any security issues, users could always go back to Layer 1 and double-check on the data. As they work on a separate network, Layer 2 solutions are often called off-chains. A large portion of transactions that go through Layer 1 gets shifted to Layer 2. This results in a shorter wait time and smoothens the traffic flow in Layer 1. Hence, scalability. Layer 2 solutions are built with much higher capacity and processing speed. Most of them operate on their channels and rarely require validation from Layer 1. Some examples include state channels, Ethereum Plasma, and Lightning Network.

We all know blockchain and smart contracts are state of the art tech and super cool. But when do we actually start using them for something practical?

Sports betting was always considered an ideal use-case for web3. Even Vitalik had it in his original Ethereum whitepaper.

There were a few attempts to deliver such a product historically, but all failed for one reason or another.

Well, we believe we finally figured it out and in this event we will discuss how we leveraged binary options and uniswap V3 AMM approach to build a decentralized Sports Betting protocol backed by smart contracts and Chainlink oracles.

Minimizing gas costs is a topic that a lot of Solidity developers care about, but most of us don't have time to read extensive research papers with vague and unclear results. We have seen blog posts with tips and tricks on the topic, and while these might be useful, they usually don't help us understand the extent of the benefit we are getting. This event will be a cross between a presentation and a workshop. Yes, we will go over the tips & tricks part, but we will also adopt an empirical approach to help us see just how much optimizing we are doing. This will help us get a deeper understanding of gas consumption and drive us to naturally write code that is conservative in gas usage.

Aleksandar has been in the crypto industry since 2012, when he co-founded a local bitcoin exchange 

, making it the oldest crypto business in the region. Besides the exchange, his company also operates a network of cryptocurrency ATMs, has developed a cryptocurrency payment application for merchants, and has spearheaded the growth of crypto adoption in Serbia.

Having previously graduated with a BSc degree in Electronics, Aleksandar enrolls in the world’s first MSc in Digital Currencies at the University of Nicosia in 2014. Two years later, he becomes one of the first graduates of that course.

Replacing RPC node reliance with light clients

Substrate connect is a JavaScript library and browser extension that builds on the PolkadotJS API to enable developers to build application-specific light clients for Substrate chains. There is no installation required or optional extension with minimal or no maintenance. The node is run by the JavaScript engine.

Simply put, Substrate connect is a Substrate client that runs in JavaScript.

Application developers no longer need to rely on single RPC nodes to allow end-users to interact with their applications.

Substrate (full node) vs. Substrate connect (light client)

A light client lets you utilize all basic features of the chain such as fetching data and transferring tokens, but it does not require you to run a full copy of the entire blockchain or having to trust remote peers. Light clients fetch the required data that they need from a Polkadot node with an associated proof to validate the data.

U subotu, 3.12.2022. godine, House of Web3 (HoW3) organizuje svoj prvi hakaton koji daje šansu ambicioznim programerima i timovima da se takmiče u rešavanju izazovnog zadatka u oblasti web3 i blockchain tehnologije. Fokus hakatona je na razvoju digitalnog novčanika (eng. wallet) korišćenjem lične karte ili nekog drugog identifikacionog dokumenta sa čipom. Za rešavanje ovog zadatka učesnici imaju na raspolaganju nedelju dana.

House of Web3 je neprofitna organizacija sa sedištem u Beogradu koja je osnovana sa ciljem podučavanja i širenju svesti o web3 i blockchain tehnologiji uopšte. Osnivači organizacije su kompanije i pojedinci iz Srbije koji svakodnevno rade na razvoju web3 tehnologija, aplikacija i proizvoda.

Kreiranje tj. generisanje blockchain wallet-a korišćenjem lične karte ili nekog drugog identifikacionog dokumenta sa čipom. Ovo bi za rezultat imalo kombinovanje validnog identifikacionog dokumenta izdatog od strane Vlade republike Srbije, sa digitalnim identitetom na blockcahin-u. Digitalni identitet bi bio reprezentovan blockchain adresom potkrepljenom stvarnim identitetom ličnog dokumenta što ga čini podobnim za KYC (Know Your Customer) verifikaciju. Posebno se podstiče korišćenje Zero Knowledge Proof principa u cilju obezbeđivanja privatnosti podataka korisnika.

, Danilo Sijacic, a Doctor of Engineering Science (PhD) from KU Lueven , a Cryptographic Hardware Engineer currently working for 

 will be talking about the development of Zero Knowledge Proof processing architecture - from the old (Neu), ::pun intended:: to the modern end-to-end enterprise grade ZKP platform.

The von Neumann CPU architecture dominates the computational machinery well over half a century. Simplicity and versatility of said architecture, combined with the technology scaling adherence to Moore's law, allowed astronomical increases in computational power. However, Moore's law is grinding to a slow halt as we approach 1nm transistors. Modern systems increasingly rely on computationally heavy mathematics to allow "mathemagical" technologies such as neural networks, fully homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs). 

The latter are the topic of this talk. In the long run, ZKPs hold the potential to be the backbone of finance and completely obliviate bureaucracy as we know it. For now, their main applications lie in the blockchain domain. Private, scalable and cheap transactions are of prime concern in this field. Ongoing research is spawning new schemes daily, many focusing on evaluating virtual machines on blockchains in zero-knowledge. Theoretical work and prototyping is maturing as we speak, however, deployment strategies still seem to revolve around von Neumman CPUs and GPUs. In this talk, we illustrate the inherent flaws of the von Neumman architecture in the context of modern ZKP systems. Then, we move to illustrate a holistic design strategy for an end-to-end enterprise grade ZKP platform. We start from custom processor architecture design targeting different ZKP targets; with the end goal of building out data centres specialised for ZKP.

Tokenization is a process whereby a piece of property, such as a physical asset or a financial security, is converted into a digital token that can be stored on a blockchain. This process can help to make ownership of the asset more liquid and transparent, and can also enable fractional ownership of the asset. In this talk, Bogdan Vujović will discuss the process of tokenization from a legal perspective, and will explore some of the potential applications of this technology in Serbia.

It is open for everyone willing to learn, work and deliver more.
