The EdTech Evidence Exchange: Supporting Effective and Equitable EdTech Implementation Decisions

In this 60-minute, hands-on workshop, the EdTech Evidence Exchange team will guide you through the use of two data sources to inform edtech selection and implementation decisions - the EdTech Context Inventory and the EdTech Implementation Survey. 

These data are presented in user-friendly, infographic style reports on the Exchange Platform. You will have a chance to experience the data and work guided by Director of Research, Emily Kohler, with fellow attendees to make evidence-informed decisions. School and district leaders will also learn about the opportunity to participate with the Exchange and have access to actual data from educators in their own school or district.

Together, we put our deepest humanity and values into action, transforming school communities.

At MindCatcher, we believe that aligning our values with what we practice is paramount to being effective in our work as educators. As we support school communities, we often overlook how our values align with how we hold space for ourselves. In this interactive session, attendees will engage in a self-reflective, community-building exercise designed to connect our values with wellness practices. Participants will think intentionally and commit to tangible wellness wins that will support us in thriving both professionally and personally.

Mindset Reset: Aligning Values to Practice

Staffing shortages across the country are forcing school communities to grapple with educating young people with fewer adults in the building. 

This Community of Practice will work together to devise plans for how their school districts, charter management organizations, and schools might proactively make shifts to their practices and structures to nimbly respond to shifting dynamics and effectively support learners. 

This group will convene individuals and teams 

 schools and school systems who are leading their efforts to respond to the teacher shortage three times with ongoing discussion between sessions. We will anchor our time together in a few key questions, including: 

 Each 75 minute session will build on the last, but teams can join at any point in the journey. Attendance at all three sessions is encouraged but not required.

Participants will leave with strategies they can implement in the short term or longer term, exposure to school models that are implementing the strategies in different ways, and a concrete plan for their school community.

These sessions will be facilitated by Lavada Berger and Sarah Akhtar from Transcend. There will be a Slack channel for communication between sessions and optional office hours.

Transforming Digital Learning

Are you curious about different innovative school models and their approaches? Join for our first round of Models Exchange Inspiration Visits, where we convene providers of models in education from across the country to share an inside look into their offerings and model design. Learn about high dosage tutoring, purpose-finding programs, competency-based assessment, blended learning, and more! In each session attendees will learn more about what makes each model unique, see each model in action, and explore avenues for collaboration and partnership.

While all attendees will learn a bit about all six of our featured models, our session format will include two deep-dive breakout rooms that attendees will self-select for further learning and inspiration. As the school year comes to a close, school and district leaders are grappling with how to support and retain their staff while also implementing high-impact strategies to meet students’ needs. The pandemic has caused many of us to wonder how we might rethink the teaching profession to ensure it is both sustainable and rewarding. But what happens when the strategies to improve the educator experience come into tension with our goals and systems for students? How can we support teachers 

 keep students at the center of our work? It doesn’t have to be a zero-sum trade-off. 

Join us for a roundtable discussion with panelists from education organizations working alongside schools to improve adult wellbeing in service of student success.

Transcend is launching a fund to support community-driven initiatives to catalyze extraordinary, equitable learning experiences in smaller cities and rural areas across the US. We will award approximately five grants of up to $400,000 each. This initiative supports our belief that communities, while often underfunded, are best positioned to identify their own needs and drive leadership in the most promising change efforts. Grants will provide financial support to existing or emergent community-driven initiatives to help accelerate change. Supported by the Walton Family Foundation, we’ll use participatory grant-making to ensure communities are actively involved in the selection decisions.

What did thousands of students and teachers have to say about school?  This year, Educators for Excellence (E4E) and Transcend each released reports based on surveys of the people most impacted by education policy: students and teachers.
