Book Club Invitation: Reiki: Hawayo Takata's Story by Helen J. Haberly

Join us for our secret book club gathering on Monday, May 19th, as we read and reflect on Reiki: Hawayo Takata’s Story, a biography detailing the life and legacy of the woman who brought Reiki from Japan to the West, as told to her student Helen Haberly.

This book offers a rare glimpse into Takata’s personal journey, filled with revolutionary healing. Through her story, we witness how Reiki crossed cultural and linguistic borders, carried by one woman’s unwavering belief in its power to heal. For Reiki practitioners, this history is an important part of Reiki lineage and brings up many critical issues for discussion in the world of Reiki healing.

In a time when many are searching for authenticity in their practice, returning to the roots of Reiki through Takata’s lived experience offers clarity and inspiration.

Takata's voice is easy to follow along with, and the book, at 112 pages, should take about 3 hours to finish.

Whether you read every word or simply sit with the energy of the story, you are welcome to our call.

Dailey will begin with a short 10-minute presentation on key points before we open into soulful discussion.

Bring your questions, your tea, and a reverence for the hands that passed this light down to us.

*Please join on desktop if you can, so you can enjoy images of Takata and other resources that may come up during club.
