Maintainers carry a heavy burden, juggling community coordination, release cycles, and bug fixing, all while burnout quietly lurks in the background. Designers, meanwhile, hover at the edges of open source projects, like mosquitos at a flyscreen, eager to find a way in, but unsure where they can fit.
Felix Reda, Director at GitHub, might have an answer. He’s been thinking deeply about this very issue: what it means to maintain not just code, but the entire ecosystem that surrounds it.
