What makes good climate storytelling? A panel and workshop with Rebecca Solnit
Climate storytelling is not just the purview of writers, it’s something that all of us can and need to do every day. It blurs the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction because all possible futures only exist in the realm of fiction until we take steps to actualize them in the present. We create the world through story.
Join us for a roundtable and workshop on effective and compelling storytelling for the climate future we want.
Hosted by climate storytellers:
Rebecca Solnit: Author of “Not Too Late”, “Hope in the Dark” and other books on climate and movement building
Zoe Young: fiction writer, professor and head of creative content for the Nature Conservancy in California
Autumn Leiker: creator of "Into the Unknown Together: A Community Climate Anthology"
Jess Serrante: Host of “We Are the Great Turning” podcast with Joanna Macy
In this event we will:
Explore the role of imagination, emotion, and how we “move hearts to change minds”
Discuss how storytelling can help us build connections and root to our shared values to create change
Investigate the internal narratives we construct to help us make sense of the times we live in
Discover that whether you know it or not, you are a climate storyteller
Light bites and drinks will be available for your enjoyment.
