Critical Thinking in the Era of LLMs - Jim Davies (Professor at CarletonU)
In the era of Large Language Models (LLMs), Professor Jim Davies explores the challenges of training and evaluating intellectual competence. Join him as he delves into the fascinating world of LLMs and offers unique insights on reasoning and thinking from a cognitive scientist's perspective.
Jim Davies is a full professor in the Department of Cognitive Science at Carleton University. Director of the Science of Imagination Laboratory, he explores computational modeling and artificial intelligence applied to human visual imagination. His work has shown how people use visual thinking to solve problems, and how they visualize imagined situations and worlds.
Silly bot: a silly Discord&Slack friend - Marc-Antoine Ruel
Marc-Antoine Ruel's talk, "Silly bot: a silly Discord&Slack friend," will teach you how to create your own Discord or Slack bot using Go. Discover how this bot can enhance your experience with LLMs and image generation, allowing for faster iteration and more creative possibilities. This presentation will talk about fundamentals of model quantization, which allows to run LLMs locally.
Marc-Antoine Ruel is a seasoned software engineer, inventor, angel investor and former 16 years Google employee. He made foundational contributions to Google Chrome and to the Fuchsia operating system. After leaving Google in 2023, Ruel transitioned to a more independent role, focusing on full-time tinkering and personal projects. He continues to be active in the tech community, sharing insights and developments through his personal website and social media platforms.
