About Event

The Washington Council for Economic and Financial Education, University of Washington's Professional & Continuing Education, and Perk Events invite you to the Startup Challenge: The Reverse Pitch.

This is not your typical pitch event!

Instead of startups presenting their ideas to potential investors, we’re flipping the script sharing ten critical areas where startups are needed - to make a monumental impact.

These specific areas have been identified by the US Commerce Department as key sectors for tech innovation hubs, offering significant opportunities for advancements and growth.

  • AI, Machine Learning, and Autonomy

  • High Performance Computing, Semiconductors, and Advanced Computer Hardware and Software

  • Quantum Information Science and Technology

  • Robotics, Automation, and Advanced Manufacturing

  • Natural and Anthropogenic Disaster Prevention or Mitigation

  • Advanced Communications Technology and Immersive Technology

  • Biotechnology, Medical Technology, Genomics, and Synthetic Biology

  • Data Storage, Data Management, Distributed Ledger Technologies, and Cybersecurity, including Biometrics

  • Advanced Energy and Industrial Efficiency Technologies

  • Advanced Materials Science, including Composites, 2D Materials, and Related Manufacturing Technologies

Why Attend?

  • Understand the specific needs and opportunities within these areas and how you can address them.

  • Learn what other states are doing to stimulate innovation and economic growth in these key areas.
