Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 (MHM Day): Breaking Barriers, Creating Good Cycles

β€‹πŸ“† May 25 – May 28, 2025

β€‹πŸ“ Multiple Locations Across Nigeria

β€‹πŸ“’ Theme: Dignity, Access, and Awareness for Every Girl

About the Campaign

In honor of Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28, 2025), The Smile Outreach is launching a nationwide movement to break the silence on menstrual health and ensure period dignity for all. Through our Good Cycle Initiative, we will activate new Pad Stations and strengthen existing ones, providing menstrual health education, sensitization programs, and essential menstrual products to girls and women in underserved communities.

This campaign is more than just advocacyβ€”it is about action, sustainability, and empowerment.

What’s Happening?

Between May 25 – May 28, we will roll out multiple Good Cycle activations in different states, expanding access to safe menstrual products and menstrual health education.

β€‹βœ”οΈ New Pad Station Activations – Setting up additional Pad Stations in schools, IDP camps, and underserved communities.

β€‹βœ”οΈ Sensitization & Awareness Programs – Engaging adolescent girls, women, and community members in interactive workshops on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and period equity.

β€‹βœ”οΈ Reusable Pad-Making Training – Teaching girls how to make and sustain reusable menstrual products, fostering economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.

β€‹βœ”οΈ Community Dialogues on Period Stigma & Taboos – Facilitating safe spaces for parents, educators, and local leaders to engage in open conversations about menstruation, challenging myths and breaking taboos.

Why This Matters

β€‹πŸš¨ 37 million women and girls in Nigeria face period poverty, lacking access to menstrual products, hygiene facilities, and education.

β€‹πŸš¨ 1 in 10 African girls misses school due to menstruation, affecting their education and future opportunities.

β€‹πŸš¨ Period stigma and misinformation continue to limit conversations and reinforce inequality.

By activating Pad Stations and educating communities, we are creating a Good Cycle of awareness, access, and dignity.

How to Get Involved

β€‹πŸ“Œ Sponsor a Pad Station: Help us expand access by funding materials and training.

β€‹πŸ“Œ Volunteer: Join our sensitization programs and pad-making workshops.

β€‹πŸ“Œ Donate: Contribute reusable pads, menstrual kits, or funds to support girls in need.

β€‹πŸ“Œ Advocate: Use your voice to break the stigma by sharing stories and engaging in conversations online using #GoodCycle #MHMDay2025 #MenstrualJustice.
