Sense to Sense (Virtual Reading Group)
Sense to Sense is a virtual reading group about translation and the senses.
Over five weeks, participants will engage in readings and discussion about the five senses and explore what it means to carry sensations over into written form. How can a fragrance become a poem? What are the different ways to write an image, or to document a sound? Ursula K. Le Guin says, “all writing is translation” — from the perceptual into language.
This class is taught by Meg Miller & Laurel Schwulst and happens on the following Mondays from 1-2pm EST virtually on Zoom.
Monday, June 16
Monday, June 23
Monday, June 30
Monday, July 7
Monday, July 14
To make best use of this class, we recommend registering by Thursday, June 12, so you have enough time to read for Monday's session. Thanks!
Please also note this is the reading and discussion portion of the in-person Sense to Sense class. This virtual offering does not include the guided writing exercises and publication making. We would like to make this possible someday, but for this summer, this is what we feel good about committing to virtually. We are excited!
