Rethinking Break-ups: A Guide to Decoupling & De-escalation
Major shifts in our relationships are inevitable, but we are conditioned to avoid them, ESPECIALLY any form of de-escalating or decoupling. We rarely, if at all, see representations of romantic partners amicably decoupling or de-escalating their relationship. Most representations of breakups or pauses depict a couple in conflict, distressed, and heartbroken. The fear of losing an attachment bond can be challenging to navigate, but it doesn’t mean you or the relationship failed.
The social pressures of remaining in relationship dynamics that no longer serve us bar us from realizing our authentic needs and desires.
Rethinking Break-ups: A Guide to Decoupling & De-escalation provides a roadmap for navigating major relationship shifts with compassion, grace, and self-assurance.
Key takeaways:
Deconstructing mainstream representations of "break-ups" and how to step off the “relationship escalator”
Understanding emotional thresholds, boundaries, and personal limits
Initiating and warmly welcoming shifts in romantic relationships
Outlining a "de-escalation" process + tools to move through it
New perspectives on "decoupling" + templates, ceremonies, and rituals on how to have a conscious, proactive, and loving decoupling
