About Event

In this webinar, a panel of experienced CDR venture capitalists (VCs) will discuss VC basics, what VCs look for, how they help develop CDR startups, and opportunities for CDR scientists to get involved in VC.

Our panelists will be Karen Strassel, PhD, Senior Science Associate, Carbon Removal Partners (Switzerland); Amanda Rohrer, CFA, Principal at Blackhorn Ventures (US); and Andrew Shebbeare, Managing Partner, Counteract (UK). Carbon Removal Co-Lead Sue Dorward will moderate.

Amanda Rohrer is a Principal at Blackhorn Ventures, where she leads the firm's energy and carbon investment verticals. Amanda has over 10 years of investment experience, guiding over $2 billion of capital commitments across the energy, built environment, and infrastructure sectors.

Andrew is a partner at Counteract, where he leads investments into early stage carbon removal, with a personal focus on engineered solutions. Before getting involved in CDR, he spent 25 years building and growing companies as an entrepreneur himself.

Karen Strassel leads the scientific due diligence at Carbon Removal Partners, a Zurich-based VC investing along the carbon removal value chain. She holds a PhD in chemistry and previously worked on CDR at The Climate Map (acquired by RMI) and in the sorbent development team at Climeworks.
