💬 Topics
Realtime Maps: In construction, accuracy is everything—discover how designing realtime 3D maps of customer sites drives high-value solutions, with practical design tips to deliver real impact. By Justin Tankey, Head of Design, and Alex Sviryda, Senior Product Designer at Propeller.
Product Design at Propeller operates at the intersection of digital and physical worlds, merging data with 3D mapping to transform how the construction industry works. Our customers depend on accuracy, and as designers, we face unique challenges like data visualisation and managing global coordinate systems. Success lies in making smart trade-offs—balancing bold, innovative ideas with delivering customer value with velocity.
In this session, we’ll share how we’re leading the shift from periodic digital maps to realtime mapping. You’ll learn how design plays a pivotal role in making this transition seamless by turning complex, constantly changing data into intuitive, actionable insights. We’ll also explore how clear, user-friendly interfaces help customers make faster, more informed decisions and how accuracy can translate into optimised workflows and measurable ROI. Ultimately, we’ll demonstrate how these design decisions lead to solutions that deliver meaningful impact for the customers who depend on us to get it right.
Spatial Intelligence: The art and science of human-centred map design. By Charley Aitchison, Product Designer at Nearmap.
In order to create great geospatial products, we need to understand how our users think just as much as we understand the world around us.
In this talk, neuroscience student turned Nearmap product designer, Charley Aitchison, will explore the interplay between neuroscience and geospatial design. She’ll share how understanding human cognition and behaviour enhances her practice, demonstrating how these insights contribute to the creation of geospatial tools that improve productivity, spark curiosity, and foster collaboration. As we move further into an AI-powered world, Charley will offer her perspective on the importance of crafting tools that resonate on a deeper level, connecting us not only to data but also transforming how people see the world.
