Progress towards parity: championing mental health within the global NCD debate
Mental health conditions affect 1 in 8 people worldwide,[i] and there is a significant unmet need in serious mental illnesses. Despite this burden, mental health conditions are often sidelined in global health policy discussions. The upcoming UN High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (UN HLM) in September presents a vital opportunity to reshape the conversation and ensure that mental and physical health receive equal attention in global debate.
Join our panel of experts to learn more about:
How physical and mental health are closely connected
How policy interventions and advocacy can help reduce the burden of serious mental illness on individuals, healthcare systems and society
Success stories of countries addressing both physical and mental health needs
Speakers at the event will include:
James Sale, Deputy CEO, United for Global Mental Health
