Panelist Bios

Ellen Falbo – Chief Credit Officer

Ellen has worked in consumer financial services for 25 years and currently serves as the Chief Credit Officer at Possible. She began her career at Capital One after earning undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Business from USC. At Capital One, she focused primarily on product strategy, analytics, and credit governance. She served as a senior credit officer and played a key role in training and developing the next generation of analysts.

After completing her MBA at Duke, she moved back to the West Coast to join Concora Credit, where she served as General Manager of Student Lending and later, Retail Credit. At Concora, Ellen expanded beyond the core of analytics and strategy to work more closely with the technology function—designing and implementing integrations with retail partners, leading the implementation of a new credit decisioning engine, and overseeing a platform conversion project.

After 10 years at Concora, she joined Possible, drawn by its mission and the opportunity to make an impact on underserved consumers. At Possible, Ellen is responsible for the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Customer Support functions, and also helps lead the organization’s efforts in AI advocacy and governance.

Tracie Hvalka – VP of Engineering

Tracie Hlavka is a deeply people-focused technology leader, currently serving as Vice President of Engineering at Possible Finance, a mission-driven fintech company. At Possible, she leads engineering efforts to scale systems, teams, and processes in support of the company’s ambitious growth plans. Tracie has a proven track record of building high-performing teams while fostering learning-focused cultures that bring out the best in every individual.

She brings over 20 years of experience in building and scaling engineering organizations within consumer-focused startups. Most recently, she served as Chief Technology Officer at Flyhomes, where she grew the technology team from 10 to 60 people and led major infrastructure modernization initiatives. Prior to that, as Vice President of Engineering at Porch, she scaled the engineering team from 60 to over 100 members while serving on the executive team. Her foundation includes 11 years at Blue Nile, where she advanced from Software Engineer to Director of Software Engineering, leading significant technical transformations.

Tracie’s leadership philosophy centers on creating purpose-driven teams where individuals feel deeply connected to their work, the business, and one another. She emphasizes building strong engineering cultures, mentoring team members for career advancement, and establishing clear technical standards. She is particularly focused on improving the developer experience, implementing modern development practices, and ensuring engineering organizations can scale effectively to meet evolving business needs.

She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Florida State University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington.

Charlotte Swavola – Staff Data Scientist

Charlotte Swavola is a Staff Data Scientist at Possible Finance, where she has spent the past 4.5 years developing credit products that emphasize fair data representation and equitable lending practices.

Prior to joining Possible, Charlotte was a Senior Data Scientist at Capital One, where she built behavioral risk models and managed data quality systems reporting to the Chief Data Office. She began her career in chemical engineering, overseeing laboratory operations at Heraeus and supervising quality control at Johnson Matthey. She holds a Master of Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley.

At Possible, Charlotte leads end-to-end product development for new credit offerings, designs scalable underwriting frameworks, and has developed enterprise-level AI governance structures. Her work centers on responsible lending and building inclusive financial products through thoughtful, data-driven approaches.

Outside of work, Charlotte is passionate about mentoring career changers through programs like TechUp. She splits her time across multiple oceans, enjoys surfing and scuba diving (despite former ocean fears), and hopes to learn how to sing—properly—someday.
