Yi-Ting Lien: vTaiwan and Digital Democracy Tools
Taiwan is leading the way on digital democracy, stemming from the g0v movement coming out of the Sunflower Movement in 2014, including vTawain, a "a decentralized open consultation process that combines online and offline interactions, bringing together Taiwan's citizens and government to deliberate on national issues."
Yi-Ting is a PhD student under David and will be doing a brown-bag to share her current research and take our questions about participatiry democracy and technology!
Yi-Ting Lien is the Co-Director of Tech for Good Asia. Her professional background has combined public service and academic study focused on the intersection of media, digital technologies, and politics. Drawing from her experience as a spokesperson for President Tsai Ing-wen’s re-election campaign office in 2020, as well as her previous roles at the Presidential Office and the National Security Council of Taiwan, she remains dedicated to conducting research that critically examines the impact of social media platforms on democratic participation and mobilization.
