Local-First Meetup Berlin #2
We're super excited to welcome you to the 2. local-first meetup in Berlin. As many folks will be in town for React Day Berlin on Friday, we've picked Thursday evening for the meetup to welcome many new folks interested in local-first coming from the React ecosystem.
Talks
Anselm Eickhoff: How we built practical local-first permissions
...
James Arthur: Local-first with your existing API
One of the exciting things about local-first is the potential to eliminate your API. But what if you like your API? Or what if cutting it out is too much disruption to your existing codebase? This talk explores the adoption dynamics of the shift to local-first and approaches to developing local-first apps incrementally - embracing rather than eliminating your existing API.
Kevin Jahns: CRDT performance tradeoffs
...
Bartosz Sypytkowski: Yrs - what we've learned?
This talk will be about Yrs: a Rust implementation of Yjs (one of the most popular libraries for building collaborative applications) that by now has over half of a dozen bindings to different programming languages. We'll share our experience in helping others build their products: what are the most common mistakes and how to develop a mindset for building a successful local-first applications.
Vojtech Rinik: Using SQLite with MobX in Reflect
Reflect is a note-taking app that's ideally suited for a local-first approach. I'll share how our database layer evolved over the years, exploring both the challenges we faced and the solutions we discovered. You'll learn why we ultimately chose SQLite WASM for our web application and native SQLite for our Capacitor app. I'll also dive into our MobX-based model layer and explain why this architecture has proven successful for our needs.
