Know how to code, but want to learn how to improve the design of your apps? Know how to make a stunning design, but struggle to implement it? Have a killer startup idea but failing to market it well or craft a thoughtful pitch deck?
We'll give you a hand at Soto Skill Swap. At this event, we'll match people with complementary skillsets to work on projects within eachother's domain. Show up with an existing project or problem you want help with, or we'll have some options for you . Learn new skills while sharing skills you know. At the end, you co-demo what you learned and taught.
Open to anyone with something they want to offer and something they want to learn within the tech and startup ecosystem. Designers, devs, pms, founders, salespeople, marketing & comms, etc. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE based on supply/demand of skills and we will be rolling out acceptances ~1 week before the event.
The first edition of this event will be technology and entrepreneurship focused as a part of Toronto Tech Week. However based on this first experiment, we would love to explore future events spanning the diversity of projects we see every weekend at Soto (including film, art, music, and more).

What's Soto?
Since January 2023, we've hosted 70+ co-working sessions comprised of a group of driven folks keeping each other accountable. The format is simple: 50 minutes of co-working (x2) and 10 mins of break time followed by brief demos for people to talk about what they worked on.
We work on all sorts of projects ex. coding an app, knitting, making beats, painting custom shoes - as long as its something you find personally meaningful and not your main "project" (i.e. not schoolwork if you're a student, not job work if you're employed), you're welcome to work on it here!
We are a Socratica Lattice-affiliated event. For more information about Socratica visit https://socratica.info/
Why:
We spend too much time daydreaming about our ideas and not nearly enough time actually making progress to get there. Soto was born out of feeling like we never make the time to pursue our side projects - and it turns out weren't not the only ones who felt this way!
Having a community to keep each other accountable and share about our passions can help us make meaningful progress in (the best possible) ways we could never have predicted.
TL;DR we just want to have fun and learn new things alongside supportive people :)
