About Event

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Scott & Kai may not be able to attend due to last-minute travel difficulties. Hardeep (& friends) will be helping out to host the session, bringing snacks and joy for all.

At Socratica, we believe that everyone should act as a host. Please make the most of this end-of-summer finale!

Let's celebrate the work that has been done over the Socratica Sunday sessions this summer! Everyone is encouraged to present a project or help someone else with their presentation 😎

Don't have anything to present? Don't worry! We'll find something for you to work on during the session

    • ✨ your inspiration

    • 💪 your process

    • 📺 show off what you made!

    • 🔮 what's next

  • Prepared presentations are expected to be 4 minutes. Please contact Scott ahead of time to get on the list!

  • Impromptu presentations are expected to be 1 minute, so if you just started on the day of the event, you're good to go!

What is Socratica Toronto?

  • A group of driven folks keeping each other accountable, working in sessions/pomodoros of 50 minutes of work and 10 mins of break time (it works, trust)

  • The project you work on can be anything! Ex. coding an app, knitting, making beats, painting custom shoes - as long as its something you want to do and not your main "project" (that means no school work if you're a student, no job work if you're employed)

  • Around 5-20 people willing to work on anything other than their main "project" (that means no school work if you're a student, no job work if you're employed)

  • Watch this short video

Why:

  • We've been procrastinating too much on my side projects even though we have so much fun doing them - feels like we're not alone in this and want to keep others accountable for working on what they're passionate about

  • The vibes will probably be immaculate and I hope the people that come will be friends with each other

Snacks:

  • yes + bring some if u want to (absolutely not necessary!)

Rules/guidelines on how to act:

  • DOOOONT work on your main thing (school or your job) - if you don't know what to work on, I'm sure we can help you find something

  • Act like a host, include people in conversations, talk to people even if they're strangers, offer to help out and clean up, don't network if you're here to network I will be so sad, come to build cool shit

  • Bring snacks if ur feeling kind!
