Toronto's 12,000 Year History — With ASL Interpretation!
This tour presents a history of Toronto from the end of the last ice age and the arrival of Indigenous people nearly 12,000 years ago to the present day. We will walk through multiple ravines, see several buried rivers, and explore Toronto's ancient shoreline. You won't be able to see the city the same way ever again.
This tour is designed with Deaf and hard of hearing participants in mind. American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be present for the full duration of the tour, and there will be live transcription. If you have additional access needs or questions, please feel free to reach out in advance.
Duration: 3hrs. There will be a break in the middle for snacks and washroom use.
Location: The tour begins south end of Philosopher's Walk, 2 Hoskin Ave. The closest subway stops are St. George, Museum, and Queen's Park. It ends at Wychwood Park. The closest subway station is St. Clair West.
Price: This tour operates on a pay-what-you-can basis. There is no up-front cost or booking fee. At the end of the tour, you can pay whatever you feel the tour was worth (cash or card both accepted). Most guests choose to pay between $25 - $40 per person.
Accessibility: this tour takes place across a wide range of geographies and surfaces, including sidewalks, ravine trails, and grass. There are two major staircases, but there are step-free alternatives to both.
