​Our Guest at our session: Bel Downie, Creative Director, former Creative Lead at Youtube Music

​Bel Downie is a multidisciplinary creative who resides in the space around music, entertainment and filmmaking. As an independent Creative Director, Director and Designer, she’s originally from Western Australia, however, called NYC home for almost 7 years before relocating to Los Angeles.

​She’s most interested in the intersection of storytelling and music, which has translated throughout her career into helping artists and brands craft their narratives visually. While her aesthetic is diverse, it’s distinctly fun, conceptual, maximalist and heavily influenced by underground music and subcultures.

​Strategically, her work aims to clearly communicate the core message and values of a band or artist to engage and build their audience.

​She has led global campaigns for YouTube and Amazon Music Latin, as well as worked with brands like Google, YouTube Music, Warner Music and Atlantic Records.

​Collaborating with artists on creative direction, music videos, content, live shows, web design, motion design and art direction is what gets her most excited.

​When not working, Bel is either DJing, learning to produce music, thinking of film ideas or trying to close all of her open tabs.
