About Event

We've built up, broken down, pivoted and everything in between since we first launched Slashie Summit in 2018. This year, we're taking a tactical and intentional approach in helping you carve your path, no matter what stage of your journey you're in.

If you take anything away from the day, we want you to celebrate how far you’ve come despite the imposter syndrome, the layoffs, the production delays, and the constant ups and downs.⚡️⚡️

Past, present, or future, this year's summit will celebrate your journeys:

🔵 Where you came from.

🟢 Where you want to go.

🟡 And, how you can get there.

We're talking tools, software programs, management tips, productivity hacks, content creation, financial advice and much more to help you get to where you want to be at your 9-5 and your side hustle.

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Slashie Summit is a collaborative, inclusive and immersive summit that empowers hustlers, doers and creators to uncover their purpose and achieve financial independence despite the stigma behind creative aspirations.

WHO IS A SLASHIE?

Slashies are generally members of the millennial demographic, who choose to include various ‘side hustles’ in their professional titles to which they devote their time—in addition to their nine-to-five.

Our community thrives when more creative minds and independently-led companies join the conversation, and that’s why we ourselves are Slashies. We are a group of South Asian Slashies who celebrate "non-traditional" career paths and seek to redefine professional success.

The summit is an inclusive space welcoming male allies, gender non-conforming, queer, and transgender individuals of South Asian and Asian American descent.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After three years of building our community digitally through SlashieConnects.com and just in time for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Slashie Summit is back at a time when creatives and entrepreneurs need connection the most on Saturday, May 13th in New York City.

The theme for this year's summit is Honoring Your Journey.

Join us for a celebration of creativity that persisted and network in person to strengthen the communities we've built.

We’re looking forward to hosting 300+ South Asian Slashies in Hudson Yards on Saturday, May 13th. This one-day experience will bring together creatives united in their desire to build a safe, inclusive and supportive community.

FAQs

What do I need to bring?

Aside from your enthusiasm to learn and meet new people, please bring your ticket (printed or mobile is fine) and valid photo/state ID.

P.S. The venue has tight security and all attendees must present a photo I.D. to gain access, so don’t forget yours!

What should I wear?

We have a stacked agenda and a full day of learning, networking, and fun, so we encourage you to keep it cute and comfortable with a hint of Indo-Western (and check the weather, so you’re prepared)!

Where should I stay?

There are tons of hotel options in close proximity to the Slashie Summit venue.

How do I get to the summit?

The Slashie Summit is being held at Location05 in Hudson Yards (450 West 31st Street, New York, NY - 7th FL). Depending where you are staying, you can take a Lyft/Uber/Taxi, walk over or take public transportation. There are several train stations just a short walk away:

  • 7 at 34th St - Hudson Yards (3 blocks away)

  • A, C, E at 34 St - Penn Station (3 avenues away)

Will you feed me?

Creativity calls for fuel! We have all our Slashie needs in mind for grub and will be providing breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert at the summit. We’ll also provide our Slashie Social guests with small bites, beer, wine and dessert! A big thanks to our food/beverage partners — to be announced soon.

Why are tickets non-refundable?

In order for Slashie Summit to be a positive experience for all, ticket sales are vital to ensure all panels, programming and networking opportunities are planned with a final headcount so each attendee receives the best possible experience. While tickets are non-refundable, we are happy to transfer your ticket from one slashie to another — please send us an email so we can sort this out seamlessly.

Will you sell tickets at the door?

Depending on the number of tickets sold, the venue's limtations on space, and COVID restrictions, we may open tickets sold at the door, but it will be a gametime decision.

Will you take photos and videos of me?

By entering the event premises, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Brown Girl Magazine, Inc and its affiliates and representatives.
