TLT festival: VEP - Virtual Electronic Poem, VR installation
A lost 20th-century masterpiece brought back to life through virtual reality.
In 1958, Philips commissioned Le Corbusier to design a groundbreaking pavilion for the Brussels World Fair. The result was Poème électronique: a fully immersive environment where architecture, sound, and image merged into a visionary multimedia experience.
With music by Edgar Varèse played through 350 speakers, images selected by Le Corbusier, and bold architectural forms by Iannis Xenakis, the pavilion was a bold leap into the future — visited by over two million people, then demolished just months later.
Now, thanks to the Virtual Electronic Poem project, presented by CIRMA (University of Turin) this lost icon is reborn. Using updated VR technology, interactive 3D headsets, and 8-channel audio spatialization, the installation lets audiences share the space and spirit of the original work.
