​Shamekka Marty is a respected voice in patient advocacy, with a career that spans over 18 years in cybersecurity and technology leadership. Her passion for healthcare transformation stems from deeply personal experiences—as both a caregiver and a patient navigating the healthcare system. These dual perspectives fuel her mission to center patient voices in the design and governance of digital health technologies.
​A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Shamekka brings a unique blend of technical acumen, motivational storytelling, and advocacy expertise. She is widely recognized for her impactful talks on digital inclusion, health equity, and cybersecurity awareness—empowering audiences to take ownership of their health data and engage meaningfully in innovation conversations.

​About Vanloan Nguyen, M.B.E.E.
​Vanloan Nguyen is a biotech entrepreneur dedicated to advancing life sciences through innovation and accessibility. As the founder and CEO of Berkeley Pharma Tech, she focuses on launching transformative healthcare solutions. Most recently, she has been focused on spinning out technology from Stanford in the women’s fertility space, aiming to revolutionize reproductive health. She also leads the Berkeley Pharma Tech Foundation, a nonprofit committed to expanding biotech education and industry access.
​Vanloan is affiliated with 1891 Angels, a Johns Hopkins alumni group of angel investors, where she helps evaluate and support promising biotech startups. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular & Cell Biology from University of California, Berkeley and a Master’s in Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship from Johns Hopkins University.
​Beyond her professional endeavors, Vanloan is passionate about mentorship, charity work, and fostering connections in the global biotech community. A first-generation Vietnamese-American, she brings resilience, curiosity, and a strong sense of purpose into her work, believing that biotechnology has the power to transform lives.
