About Event

This drop-in group is intended to provide a landing place for meditators working with some or all of Rob Burbea’s approaches to practice. The group will (at least to start) follow a drop-in format, with sessions exploring a particular theme (along with time for reports & questions). The basic format for the meetings will be roughly 30 min. guided practice / 30 min. questions and reports, 30 min. topic & discussion.

The guided practices offered each week will fall within the areas of insight practice, samadhi practice and, heart practices. Teaching topics will include practices and concepts from Rob's book ‘Seeing that Frees Meditations on Emptiness and Dependent Origination’ including “ways of looking” and exploring the nature of fabrication/fading of perception. Other themes will include energy body, cultivating samadhi, relationship of imagination to practice, mystical experience, as well as discussions of the broader through-lines and themes within Rob’s approaches to contemplative practice.

Those working with any area of Rob’s teachings (including emptiness, jhana, and imaginal practice) are welcome to come connect and share discoveries. People who are newly interested in Rob’s teachings are also invited to attend.

Susy Keely has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 2001. She began practicing Vipassana/Insight Meditation in 2005 (including study with Shinzen Young). In 2015 she began working with Rob Burbea, who authorized her to teach. As an artist and a mother, she has a passion for exploring the ways in which a deep and vibrant meditation practice can be maintained in daily life. She is deeply interested in the subtleties of samadhi and insight practice, and the intersection between spiritual practice and creativity.
