About Event

How much autonomy do parents and children really have over their own education within a government school system?

This lack of separation between school and state calls into question what rights children actually have when it comes to their education, and ultimately their future.

Bradley Thompson and Aquinas Heard will be tackling this relevant, intriguing, and complex issue in our next event.

Bradley Thompson is a Professor of Political Philosophy at Clemson University, the Executive Director of the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism, and the founder of the Lyceum Scholars Program. He is the author most recently of America's Revolutionary Mind: A Moral History of the American Revolution and the Declaration that Defined It. He also writes and blogs at his Substack, The Redneck Intellectual. He is also the founder and lead blogger at EdWatchDaily.com, which is America's leader of the #JustWalkAway movement.

Aquinas Heard is a gymnastics coach, Outschool instructor, and former private elementary school owner. He is a longtime advocate of unschooling as well as the separation of school and state and founded the Aquinas Academy of Reason.

In this upcoming event, Bradley and Aquinas will discuss the separations of school and state, what a free market in education might look like as well as what rights children really have when it comes to their own education.
