About Event

Work on Climate, My Climate Journey, and Climate Changemakers are coming together to bring you the continuation of our Seattle monthly meet-up series. This August event is focused on alternative proteins as a climate mitigation solution. We are excited to showcase a local alternative protein innovator company, Rebellyous Foods, including welcoming Christie Lagally, Founder and CEO of Rebellyous Foods, as our special guest and serving up some tasty product samples! Climate Changemakers will also be hosting an Action Table for the first time at a Seattle meetup where you can learn about what they do and participate in a bite-sized action that you can do on the spot!

Join us to hear Christie Lagally speak about how eating more plant-based meat can help reduce our impact on the planet and animals while offering better-for-you options and how Rebellyous Foods is changing the way plant-based meats are manufactured to be a part of that change. You'll also gain insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the plant-based meat industry, and how this movement is evolving to meet changing consumer demands. There will be time for Q&A after Christie's talk as well so come with your burning questions!

Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food are available for purchase at Halcyon Brewing.

For transportation, Halcyon Brewing is right on the 5/28 bus lines.  Alternatively, street and bike parking is available nearby.

More about Rebellyous Foods:

Can one little nugget change the world? Founder and CEO of Rebellyous Foods and former Boeing engineer Christie Lagally thinks it can. Under Lagally's guidance, Rebellyous Foods has developed a proprietary technology that allows it to produce plant-based chicken nuggets, tenders, and patties at a fraction of the cost of competitors, making plant-based meat more accessible and reliable.

Rebellyous focuses on price, quality, and volume, ensuring the transition to plant-based meat can be economically feasible through commercial-scale production. This innovation has already led to partnerships with major food distributors and growing demand for their products, which are currently in over 1000 retail locations and over 100 school districts across the U.S.

Seattle Food Tech, Inc., DBA Rebellyous Foods is a food manufacturing technology company working to make plant-based meat price-competitive with traditional chicken products. The company was founded in 2017 by former Boeing engineer Christie Lagally to provide the plant-based meat industry the tools needed to radically increase production capacity while dramatically lowering costs for high-quality plant-based meat. Investors include Clear Current Capital, Fifty Years, Liquid 2 Ventures, CPT Capital, Agronomics, Vulcan Capital, and KBW Ventures. For more information, visit rebellyous.com.

More about Climate Changemakers:

Climate Changemakers is a constituent advocacy program, pushing for bold climate policy through meaningful civic engagement. Right now, our nation-wide community of volunteers is focused on getting federal government grant money flowing into the states to build solar projects in disadvantaged communities. We’re excited to offer a bite-sized way for MCJ and Work on Climate members to get in on the action! Stop by our table to learn more and take action.
