**SAFETY PLAN FOR SUICIDE AND CRISIS PREVENTION ** click link
Dear Los Angeles Community Mental Health Services,
We stand at a critical moment in our city's history. As Angelenos, we have always been a community that rises together, supports one another, and takes action when our neighbors need us most. Today, we invite you to join us in a movement that goes beyond awareness—a movement toward real change, real support, and real action for mental health and suicide prevention.
On September 10th, 2025, we are organizing "Connected Hope," a community-centered event to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day. But this is more than just an event—it's a call to action for our entire Los Angeles community and a platform to support our fellow Americans nationwide who are struggling with mental health challenges.
Our Los Angeles Community Crisis: Right here in our city, from Venice Beach to East LA, from Hollywood to South Central, our neighbors are silently struggling. The statistics are staggering, but behind every number is a person—a native Angeleno, a new resident drawn to our City of Angels, someone's family member, friend, or colleague. We see them on our streets, in our schools, in our workplaces, and sometimes we don't see them at all until it's too late and just no time yet still TYMED.
Event Overview - A Movement for Change:
Date: September 10th, 2025 (World Suicide Prevention Day)
Location: Scenic beach walk along our beautiful Los Angeles coastline
Components: Community solidarity beach walk, silent art auction featuring local LA artists, and closing ceremony with potential celebrity artist performances
Mission: Raise awareness, reduce stigma, build community connections, generate funds for mental health resources, and mobilize our community for systemic change
Reach: Los Angeles residents, supporters nationwide, and digital engagement across America
Special Features: The healing power of our Pacific Ocean combined with LA's artistic soul, enhanced by celebrity voices amplifying our message of hope and action
Our Action Plan - Beyond the Event:
1. Supporting in LA :
#VOTE25
Support unhoused and mental health programs
supporting health with a walk
supporting love
Establish ongoing support networks for native Angelenos and long-term residents
Create added resource in underserved communities throughout LA County
Develop mentorship connecting community elders with young people
Provide culturally sensitive mental health resources
Expand crisis intervention services to reach every neighborhood
Talk about and provide value of unity.
2. Street-Level Advocacy: We will not stay silent. We will take to the streets because:
Our voices demand to be heard
visibility to the mental health crisis
Street advocacy educates our community about available resources
Public demonstration shows those struggling that they are not alone
Community mobilization creates pressure for change and increased funding
3. Electoral Action - Your Vote Matters: The upcoming elections are crucial for mental health advocacy. We must:
VOTE for candidates who prioritize mental health funding
VOTE for representatives who support suicide prevention programs
VOTE for leaders who understand that mental health is public health
Support ballot measures that fund community mental health services
Ensure our elected officials know that mental health is a priority issue for voters
Be represented and present in the moment and movement of #TYMED
Partnership Opportunities with you: Service to Los Angeles makes you the perfect partner for this movement:
Beneficiary Partnership: Direct %of proceeds from our silent art auction to support suicide prevention programs for partial fund reimbursement if available following the donation to charities.
Community Resource Hub: Establish more information about Crisis Line and services
Professional Advocacy: Join us in community meetings and public forums that are throughout the year with the next one being in Miami for Art Basel.
Voter Education: Help us inform the community about mental health policy issues and advocate
Street Outreach: Coordinate with our advocacy efforts to reach those most in need on the ground.
Why We Must Act Now: Mental health challenges affect 1 in 4 people in our Los Angeles community. Every day we wait, we lose neighbors, friends, family members. The beach where we'll walk has witnessed too many tragedies. The streets where we'll advocate have seen too much suffering. The voting booths where we'll make our voices heard are our opportunity to create lasting change.
This isn't just about one day in September—it's about building a movement that lasts. We're combining the therapeutic power of our ocean, the creative spirit of our city, the influence of our celebrity community, and the political power of our votes to create comprehensive change. As we go into the future with technology dominations of our time.
Our Commitment to Action:
Transparent use of all funds raised
Ongoing community organizing beyond the event
Assist with Voter registration drives in underserved communities
Regular community forums on mental health
Sustained advocacy for mental health funding
Support for those struggling to cope
The Time for Action is Now: We cannot wait for someone else to solve this crisis. We cannot stay silent while our community suffers. We cannot avoid the polls when our votes can save lives. This is our moment to stand up, speak out, and create the change our city desperately needs.
Join us in making September 10th not just a day of remembrance, but a day of action. Help us turn our grief into power, our concern into advocacy, and our community into a force for change.
Stay tuned for EXTRA: (TBA after Sept 10th)
Together, we will walk the beach, fill our streets with love as we call for justice, and flood our polling places with votes as we stand on something. Together, we will show America what it means to be Human messengers of hope and agents of change.
I invite you to meet with us to discuss this partnership and plan our collective action. The time for quiet concern has passed. The time for loud, persistent, organized action has begun.
