40 years in UX design - meet Scott Jenson, a pioneer whose work has significantly impacted the way we use and interact with technology today.

An instrumental part of some of the world’s most renowned companies, Scott worked at Apple on System 7, Newton, and the Apple Human Interface guidelines. He was the UX Director of Symbian, VP of Product Design for Cognima, managed mobile UX for Google, and was a Creative Director at frog Design in San Francisco. Scott returned to Google in 2013 to lead the Physical Web project and research future Android UX concepts. In 2021, Scott left Google to explore life outside.

In the early 2000s, Scott became interested in the potential of mobile devices and began working on user experience design for mobile platforms. He has built a career focused on designing and building products that are intuitive and easy to use.

As a battle-scarred software industry veteran, Scott has shipped a consumer spreadsheet, been a part of 2 Mac OS releases, 5 Newton product cycles, 4 commercial website revisions, designed 3 different mobile phone UIs, and sworn at innumerable mobile browsers, and has over 30 patents.

In addition to his work in the technology industry, Scott is also an author and orator who has given talks on various topics related to design and technology. Known for his ability to bridge the gap between design and engineering, Scott is currently on a quest to bridge the physical and digital worlds.

Join us for a fireside chat with Scott, as we discuss with him the past, present, and future of design - with a focus on understanding interfaces for designers, using UX design to bolster the Open Source movement, and how better design translates to better business.
