This month:
Main Program: Designing AI for Creativity
Led by Brandon Harwood
AI in creative spaces is a contentious topic. Too often, we see it deployed to replace artists and devalue human expression—despite the fact that creativity thrives on emotion, context, and connection between people. So how can we, as designers, ensure AI becomes a tool that supports rather than supplants the creative process?
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore how AI is being used in creative work today and learn practical methods for designing systems that empower human creativity. Rather than framing AI as a shortcut, we’ll explore how it can be used to extend thinking, reveal new possibilities, and support meaningful creative flow.
You’ll leave with tools and perspectives to:
- Distinguish between automation, augmentation, and co-creation
- Map how AI can challenge and support creative thinking
- Design human-AI relationships that value agency, reflection, and intent
