Accessibility - Bridge between dream and reality - Daniel Shin

The fast-moving tech world is pushing dreams into reality. It's exciting until dreams turn into nightmares instead of reality. How do we shape our product visions into reality? I think Accessibility in product design can provide some hope.

About Daniel

Daniel is a Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn and is passionate about web accessibility.

A World Without Limits: Making Videos Accessible to All with React and Cloudflare - Pillippa Pérez Pons

In an increasingly connected world, access to content in multiple languages is essential for inclusion and diversity. For many, especially those whose native language is not English, finding accessible content can be a significant challenge. This talk will address how to overcome these barriers using modern and accessible technologies.

"A World Without Limits: Making Videos Accessible to All with React and Cloudflare" will explore the creation of a video platform that offers pre-generated multilingual subtitles. Using React for the user interface, Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare Stream, and Cloudflare Workers along with AI technologies for language detection and translation, we will share how to build a solution that truly makes video content accessible to everyone.

About Pillippa

I'm Pillippa Perez Pons, a Frontend Software Engineer at Doordash, I am passionate about developing innovative web applications that enhance user experiences and improve efficiency. Originally from Chile, I have been living in the Bay Area for the past three years, embracing the vibrant tech community here.

Volunteering and community involvement are core to who I am. In 2019 and 2020, I mentored young girls through Niñas Pro, helping them develop their technical skills and inspiring their interest in technology. I also contributed to Django Girls in 2020, creating a welcoming environment for women to learn coding. In 2023, I had the opportunity to be an organizer for JSConf Chile, fostering a collaborative and inclusive tech community. Additionally, I played a significant role in JavaScript Chile 2023, promoting education and growth within the local JavaScript community. My commitment is to empower underrepresented groups and encourage them to pursue careers in technology, believing in their potential to make a significant impact.
