Animated For Impact - LCAW
This year’s London Climate Action Week (LCAW) will spotlight the storytelling power of animation with “Animated for Impact: Short Films for Nature, Connection, and Action.”
The unique event brings together some of the most powerful animated short films created to inspire action on climate and nature.
Studio Birthplace founders Jorik Dozy & Sil van Der Woerd will headline the evening with a live presentation of their award-winning films, including the viral sensation Wasteminster, a hard-hitting piece that contributed to legislative changes in the UK’s plastic waste policy.
Animation allows us to visualise the full spectrum of planetary futures, from harrowing environmental destruction to hopeful visions. Yet, despite its potential, animation remains an underutilised tool in climate communication. This showcase provides an enticing glimpse of what is possible.
The program features a compelling selection of independent, student, and commissioned films, including Academy Award and Cannes Lions-winning works created for global organisations such as Greenpeace, WWF, and the United Nations. Audiences can expect films from leading voices in animation, including:
* Gavin Strange (Aardman Animations)
* Yannis Konstantinidis (NOMINT)
* Murray Butler (Framestore)
* Able & Baker (Love, Death + Robots)
* Steve Cutts (YouTube viral director)
* Oli Frost (climate musician, satirist, and activist)
Animated for Impact is more than a film screening. It’s a dynamic gathering of LCAW delegates, creatives, marketers, producers, strategists, students, filmmakers, and brands. Together, we will celebrate the trailblazing talent behind these works and explore animation as a transformative medium to connect, inspire, and mobilise action.
The event is an initiative of RAN Collectives, Asia’s first creative collective rallying artists and media professionals to tell impactful stories for people and the planet.
