I come from there
Mahmoud Darwish
I come from there and I have memories
Born as mortals are, I have a mother
And a house with many windows,
I have brothers, friends,
And a prison cell with a cold window.
Mine is the wave, snatched by sea-gulls,
I have my own view,
And an extra blade of grass.
Mine is the moon at the far edge of the words,
And the bounty of birds,
And the immortal olive tree.
I walked this land before the swords
Turned its living body into a laden table.
I come from there. I render the sky unto her mother
When the sky weeps for her mother.
And I weep to make myself known
To a returning cloud.
I learnt all the words worthy of the court of blood
So that I could break the rule.
I learnt all the words and broke them up
To make a single word: Homeland

Description:
Rebelion sometimes means survival and getting from one day to the other, we invite artists to show diverse forms of rebellion.
In the realm of visual art, this open call invited artists to weave threads of rebellion, resilience, and resistance into a tapestry of peace. Drawing inspiration from the verses of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Mahmoud Darwish, this call transcends the conventional narrative of conflict, advocating for an exploration of peace through the lens of defiance and fortitude.
Like poetry, steeped in revolutionary fervor, serves as a guiding light for artists seeking to articulate the essence of rebellion. Pulsating with the rhythm of protest and dissent, ignites the spirit of defiance against oppression. Through vibrant hues and bold strokes, artists can portray the unyielding determination of individuals striving to carve out a path towards peace amidst chaos. There exists a nuanced perspective to the discourse on peace etched with the scars of displacement and longing, resonating with the enduring spirit of survival. Artists are encouraged to delve into the depths of Darwish's verses, extracting themes of endurance and hope amidst adversity. Through delicate brushwork and intricate compositions, they can evoke the resilience of communities reclaiming their narratives and rebuilding fractured societies.
Artists are invited to reimagine peace not as a passive state, but as a dynamic force fueled by the collective aspirations of humanity. Through their creations, they can depict the indomitable spirit of individuals and communities, forging a path towards peace rooted in courage, perseverance, and unwavering resolve.
