About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with author Amie McNee about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

How can we break free of perfectionism and keep showing up to make art? Why is making art, even quietly, a radical act?

“The creative life is always a life of vulnerability.” Amie McNee

After receiving hundreds of rejections from publishers, Amie McNee decided to choose herself—and share her creative journey on her Instagram account @inspiredtowrite. What followed was a growing community of nearly half a million fellow artists and seekers, drawn to her blend of honesty, humor, and creative resilience. Amie is now a bestselling author, a sought-after guest on major podcasts, and a voice of permission and possibility for writers everywhere.

Join us for a conversation with Amie as we discuss staying grounded through success and setbacks, forging a creative life on your own terms, and why she believes art is both essential and revolutionary. We’ll also go behind the scenes of the writing and publishing of her latest book, We Need Your Art: Stop F*cking Around and Make Something.

We’ll also explore:

  • Her fascination with medieval erotica and art

  • Her experience of self-published vs traditional publishing

  • Making a living as a writer

  • How to mess up the existing rules in art and create new ones

  • Her process for marketing her book, and how she’s landed interviews with hosts like Jay Shetty and Martha Beck

  • The role of vulnerability and rejection as a writer
