ClimART Cafe w/ SubtleFlux: into the microVerse - Micrographia
Join Climate Cafe NYC and Shae Nadine aka SubtleFlux, and step into a space of reflection and connection as we explore the emotional dimensions of the climate crisis through the lens of the microscopic world. This Climate Cafe will begin with a brief grounding meditation before inviting participants to contemplate magnified images of plant cells, microorganisms, and organic structures. The exhibition also digs deep into the life cycles of materials, examining pre- and post-consumer waste to reveal the hidden impacts of human consumption on our environment. As we contemplate these intricate and often unseen forms of life, we’ll reflect on our emotional responses to ecological change—grief, hope, responsibility—and consider how shifting our perspective can inspire renewed care for the planet. This is a space for open dialogue, shared reflection, and collective healing.
About the Exhibit:
Inspired by scientist and illustrator Robert Hooke's seminal book, Micrographia, published in 1665, into the microVerse – Micrographia invites viewers into an immersive interdisciplinary installation where projected and printed microscopy acts as a vehicle to witness the beauty of nature and our environment through magnified images of plant cells, microorganisms, and organic structures to transform our perspective of the familiar. Through this microscopic and material journey, the exhibition encourages a renewed perspective on our role as stewards of Earth's delicate ecosystems and biodiversity, asking us to reimagine how we might preserve and protect these intricate natural systems for generations to come.
